Fire Evacuation Drills

Fire evacuation drills are to be undertaken at least once, but preferably twice, in any 12 month period in a premises where an evacuation procedure is required . They assist in testing the effectiveness of the emergency fire plan and are required by law.

EAL can organise, conduct, and evaluate your evacuation drills to ensure that the maximum benefit can be gained from any drill with the minimum disruption to normal working.

The evacuation drill provides a simulated, but realistic, fire situation and will be bespoke to your premises. Key elements of the process would be:

  • To evaluate the effectiveness of the overall plan; fire marshals; fire protection systems; fire signage and fire escape routes/exits.

  • To observe human behaviour of staff/visitors.

  • To record findings in a premises fire safety log book and in a simple report from which learning outcomes can be used to inform future practise.

We support our clients (including building managers and tenants) to achieve worthwhile drills which discharge their legal requirements in a safe and effective manner and which provide strong evidence that occupants are prepared for a fire emergency.

Experienced consultants

Drills will conducted by consultants who have been operational fire officers with extensive experience of dealing with real fire situations in all types of premises (e.g. hospitals; commercial; industrial; transport network; sports stadiums; heritage; residential and care homes).

EAL consultants are either Members or Graduates of The Institution of Fire Engineers.
